He’s an esteemed rapper, lyricist, producer and instrumentalist which was apparent throughout the entirety of Ty Dolla $ign’s performance as he took to the stage to deliver a stand-out show with a overt-enthusiasm and passion for the game. With a high-energy take on his Campaign mix-tape to an audience that loved every minute of it, the LA-born star gave his all to the crowd at Auckland’s Logan Campbell Centre and it was something, for his fans, to remember.

The evening was welcomed in by DJ Sir-Vere and hype-man Dan to a selection of hip-hop and RnB fan-favourite tracks. The upbeat mixes got the crowd moving while awaiting the highly anticipated main event. With the news that the other confirmed local support acts would not be making it on to the stage sinking in to the minds of the audience members that felt let down by this decision, it wasn’t before long their disappointment was a distant memory, moving on to the musical stylings of international special guest Kent Jones.

Jones came out to the Ty-hungry audience with street appeal and a fancy walk. He looked at ease on stage and as if he was just happy to be there, maybe hearing the news of the cut opening acts and appeared to be full of gratitude for his shot with big smiles and chatter to the crowd. Whatever his stimulation, his friendliness was well-received and got big cheers from the audience – which only further roused him up and further encouraged the people within the venue to share their support louder and with oozing excitement through ‘Woos’ and ‘Yeahs’. He ended his set with the crowd-favourite Don’t Mind, leaving the stage with his head held high to the roaring cries of old fans and new.

It wasn’t before long that it was Ty’s time to shine, and shine like a beam of light he did. Ty graced the stage with a long printed jacket and white tee. Four songs later he was shirt-less. His performance was enthusiastic and effortless. He worked the stage, worked the crowd and worked his way through the Campaign mix-tape and even got 25 girls up on the stage to join him and Kent Jones for Work From Home. The crowd left hyped, happy and hungry for more.
