Ozzy Osbourne cancels Australia & NZ tour dates

Ozzy OsbourneRock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter Ozzy Osbourne has announced that he must, unfortunately, cancel shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. This follows news of the postponement of the entire UK and European leg of his NO MORE TOURS 2 tour on doctors’ orders.

“Ozzy recently developed pneumonia and has spent some time in hospital. Thankfully he is now through the worst part, his doctors have advised that he stay at home to recuperate for a full six weeks with no travel,” says Sharon Osbourne.

We are extremely disappointed to have to bring this news to you, our metal family, however it should go without saying, Ozzy’s health and wellbeing is number one. We wish Ozzy all the best in his recovery and hope he is back to full health as soon as possible!

It is impossible to replace Ozzy Osbourne at any time, but with only weeks out from the shows there is no chance of anyone securing an act to replace the headline slot at his shows.

Airbourne

So, for the two Download dates in Australia – we are stoked to announce Aussie hard rock kings, Airbourne will join the line up! The scrappy upstarts from Warrnambool – a country town about 3 hours from Melbourne, announced their arrival with 2007’s Runnin’ Wild, one of the most talked-about and best-reviewed debuts in recent hard rock history. Metal Hammer handed them a Golden Gods Award for Best Debut Album and Classic Rock rightly hailed them Best New Band.

In lieu of Ozzy’s cancellation, Download will also offer all current ticket holders a merchandise voucher to the value of $45 plus postage and handling available from our online shop at 24hundred.net from 9am AEDT Monday 4th March 2019. Ticket holders must enter their ticket number to redeem the voucher. This voucher is only redeemable online and cannot be redeemed at the event. Voucher is valid for the full Official Event Merchandise range.

(This merchandise voucher offer will not be available to new ticket purchasers, only those who have purchased tickets prior to the cancellation announcement on Monday 18th February midday.)

But what about the New Zealand shows?

For those of us in New Zealand (well, Auckland), Judas Priest will take over the headlining slot and a shiny new support act will be announced in a few days. All tickets are now $99 and existing ticket holders will automatically receive a partial refund for the difference. This show is also now general admission with no allocated seating.

Unfortunately the Christchurch show is now cancelled with ticket holders receiving either a full refund back onto the card they used to purchase said tickets, or will be receiving a call from their ticketing agent to arrange some other form of refund.
