Bleeders

Twelve years may seem like a lifetime of waiting, but for fans of West Auckland punk/rock outfit the Bleeders, it has been worth every last, agonising day to finally have new music in their hot little hands (and on vinyl no less!)
Led by Angelo Munro, 2003 saw Bleeders release their first EP and like a bolt of lightning it electrified the scene, the band soon gathering a legion of fans. Releasing their debut album Sweet As Sin three years later and that following only became bigger; sweat-filled mosh pits at the Kings Arms remembered with fondness, Munro himself estimating that they played over forty shows in the iconic and mourned for venue.
While the Bleeders never truly disappeared from the scene – the odd show popping up here and there over the last decade, 2019 marks the year that new music is gifted. Delusions, released last Friday signalling the return of Bleeders, their latest single from it entitled ‘Darkness Falls’ embodying that frenetic pace and cut lip rawness that has always been so beloved of the group; the chorus without doubt an anthem that will be chanted with gusto, and celebrated with thrashing bodies. Vocally Munro is just as powerful as he has always been, the hunger having only gained a sharper edge with the passing of time.
Last Friday saw Bleeders lay down a set that embodied both the past, present and future; Neck of the Woods pulsating with every track as fans and artist came together as one.
Photographer Ginny C was on hand to capture the revelry firsthand (with a bonus set of images of support act ‘Delete All‘).
